HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Dear Parents,
We continued our Nutrition Unit by learning about the dairy group.  We read the Dairy Group book by Megan Borgert-Spaniol. The children enjoyed watching  a short video called The Story of Milk, compliments of the New England Dairy Council and Food. The children then created a dairy page for their Nutrition Booklet. They added five pictures of dairy products such as: yogurt, milk, cottage cheese, cheese, and sour cream.

The highlight of the week for the children was milking Sally the cow.  The children had so much fun they could not stop talking about the cow and milking it.  When I decided to put it away the child could not understand why I couldn't leave it in the room.

Notes from Yuting:
This week the fish finger puppets continued to be popular. We used them to practice colors and conversations.
We also reviewed the song "The Elephant". The elephant has a big body(Dà shēntǐ), big ears (Dà ěrduǒ), and a long trunk (or longnose--Cháng bízi). Here is the link to the video of the song: https://youtu.be/emVYCDY6Y5E
Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!

On Wednesday we added a vegetable page to our booklet and we listened to a story called Green Beans, Potatoes and even Tomatoes, by Brian P. Cleary. Next week we look forward to completing our Nutrition booklet with the grain page.

Fun in the classroom:
Baking cupcakes for Mother's Day

The children have been asking me every day, "When will it be Mother's Day?" Mother's Day finally arrived! They had so much fun singing for you and they also couldn't wait to give you your presents.  I am sure you will all agree that the children did a great job singing.

Love,
Ms. Bonne and Ms. Barbara
