We continued our "All About Me" unit this week by having each child create a picture of their house. They children decorated their houses by adding windows, doors, chimneys, and even flowers. The results were spectacular! The children also enjoyed listening to a book called I Like Myself, by Karen Beaumont. We then had a discussion about our hair and eye color and the children drew pictures of their eyes and hair.

Here is a little update on the Mandarin lesson this week.
The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival (also called the Moon Festival) fell on Thursday, September 15 this year. On Wednesday we talked about how the Chinese people celebrate this special day through the book "Thanking the Moon" by Grace Lin
We learned about one of the legends about the Moon Festival--
We also looked at the Chinese character for moon--月 , pronunced as "yuè", you could check out the pronununciation through this link--

~Please include utensils in your child's lunch box.
~ Please put a sweater or jacket in your child's cubby. The weather is rapidly changing and it can get very cold in the playground.
~ Make sure your child has a few extra outfits in their cubby.
